Deadline: April 1, 2021
This scholarship was created through donations from family and friends of Jim Greenfield. It was established to give tuition assistance to a student each year who exhibits potential not only in academics, but in citizenship as well. The student who receives this scholarship each year should be actively involved in school activities and in the O'Gorman community, and should also exhibit promise both in the school setting and as a future community leader. Because Jim was always a champion of the "average" kid, and was an average kid himself, the scholarship will be designated for students who earn a 3.0 to 3.5 GPA, participate in cross country, track, baseball, football, and/or band, and show the desire and potential to achieve success and give back to the community around them. Jim's life was a testament to the fact that one does not have to be at the head of the class or have the longest resume to be successful; he was the average kid who went on to have a fulfilling professional career, a loving family life, and a rewarding relationship with his community. It is the purpose of this memorial scholarship to reward those students with the potential to do the same.
The recipient(s) of the Jim Greenfield Memorial Scholarship will receive an award certificate in May as well as a tuition credit for the following fall semester at O'Gorman High School. Award amount will vary. The recipient will be determined by the scholarship selection committee.
