Jennifer Leigh taught science at O'Gorman High School for eleven years. For Jen, teaching was more than a job; it was her purpose in life. Jen's mission was to make science fun so that every student could understand and appreciate the world of science. Her memory lives on in her former students who speak of her as someone who loved teaching and who made learning (even learning difficult chemistry concepts) something that they enjoyed. Jen was a gifted teacher, but she was also a kind, generous, and compassionate person who touched the lives of her fellow staff members as much as she influenced her students. Her smile and her sense of humor never wavered, even as she faced serious and ongoing medical challenges. Jen's family summed up Jen's outlook on life in these words they shared about her after her death. "If Jen could speak she would say, 'Life is short, so love like there is no tomorrow, have compassion for people less fortunate than you, be happy and laugh often. But above all know that God is always there for you.' "

The recipient of the Jennifer Lynn Leigh Memorial Scholarship will receive an award certificate in May as well as a tuition credit for the following fall semester at O'Gorman High School. The recipient will be determined by the scholarship selection committee.
