Deadline: April 15, 2020
Frank and Barb Rance, both public high school graduates, began to recognize the value of a Catholic educational community in 1986. It was that year when Tom Lorang, then O'Gorman principal, hired Barb to institute a language-based class for students with special learning needs at O'Gorman High School. Barb loved the community and the chance to build a program, which, years later, led to the establishment of Academic Services programs in all of the Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools system. Barb also served as Academic Services Coordinator at St. Mary School and at O'Gorman Junior High. Barb retired from teaching in 2016. She truly enjoyed working with staff, students and families at all grade levels. As parents, Frank and Barb feel fortunate that their children, Andrew, '04, Molly, '05 and Kevin, '10 all benefited from learning and growing in this multi-faceted spiritual and academically-challenging environment. By establishing this endowment, they would like to assist in giving that same opportunity to students with unique learning challenges.
The recipient of the Be a Light for Christ Rance Family Scholarship will receive an award certificate in May as well as a tuition credit for the following fall semester at O'Gorman Junior High School. The recipient will be determined by the scholarship selection committee.
